My mission is to help women unlock the secrets to living a life full of the abundance, love, and prosperity that they innately have the capacity to create, but do not yet have because their resilience is wobbly. Let me tell you a bit about how I ended up on this path.
I was born in Mexico City and moved to Vancouver, BC with my parents and my younger sister in 2006. After leaving a country with often scarce opportunities, poor economic systems, and public incivility, especially towards women, we had to start our story anew and create our own opportunities. We were followed by a lot of generational trauma, much of which became apparent as we grew up and integrated ourselves into a predominantly White society.
I was always a shy kid who struggled a lot with anxiety, identity issues, body dysmorphia, and self-distrust. These shadows followed me into my teenage years and even university, where I looked for healing in a lot of the wrong places and people. In 2019, I went through a downward spiral of performing very poorly in school and struggling with my sense of self-worth, which led me to make my debut into the world of personal growth, from which my life completely transformed. My connections, my sense of self, and my confidence in my career pursuits elevated, and I am continuously compounding on these effects today with prosperity in the form of joy, wealth, relationships, health, and more.
In 2020, I became particularly obsessed with the concept of resilience, and constantly had burning questions about what TRULY made people resilient, and what pyschosocioemotional factors are needed build resilience in an individual. Being a Kinesiology major and a Personal Trainer, I understood the crucial role of physical health in overall well-being, but was always perplexed that our society defined resilience as solely a product of “discipline, grit, and willpower”. This certainly wasn’t ONLY what I was seeing my clients struggle with, so I knew there had to be more.
This very obsession that led me to create The Commitment to Growth Podcast in my third year of university, where I connected with dozens of people to hear their stories of how they had overcome adversity to develop a personal toolkit of resilience. Among the professionals I interviewed were life coaches of all backgrounds, and I became enamoured at the thought of taking this on as a career prospect after finishing my degree, so I did!
Now, I am a UCI-certified life coach specializing in resilience coaching, and Commitment to Growth has become my vehicle for helping women like myself who know they are meant for more, but don’t know where creating “more” begins.
Becoming our dream future selves is a commitment because it requires constant adaptation, learning, self-compassion, and innovation. Developing resilience is a lifelong process because what you find strength, inspiration, and support in is always changing. What doesn’t change, however, is the pillars that make up our capacity to BE resilient, and without understanding this, we will always be chasing rather than attracting - that’s what CTG is all about.
When I'm not creating podcast episodes, social media videos, or reading self-improvement books, I’m usually doing something outdoors, having humorous-yet-thought-provoking conversations with friends, going for runs, finding good coffee shops that make good cortados, playing guitar, or writing poetry.
